Description

The House of Oracles: A Huang Yong Ping Retrospective, edited by Phillippe Verne and Doryun Chong, with contributions by Fei Dawei, Hou Hanru and Huang Yong Ping. Published in 2005 by Walker Art Center, Minneapolis. This unusual book is actually two large paperbacks, 96 and 112 page, respectively, with their back covers affixed to each other. Enclosed in the pouch in back of the second book is a large fold-out titled, "Travel Guide" with various diagrams describing the artist, his philosophy and his work. There are many illustrations in each, including a couple dozen photo plates laid in between pages in the first book and full page photo plates occupying pages 33 to 64 in the second book. Good condition. There's neat yellow highlighting in one page of text in the first page. The covers have several small stains. The fold-out has wrinkles along some of its edges.
